Pixelcraft

Pixelcraft

Dublin’s Pixelcraft design quality websites for a variety of clients. When it comes to their own site, simplicity is the key. A muted background colour and plenty of whitespace allows the content to speak and focuses your attention on the crispy illustrations. I’m loving the title font too!

Mobile Web Design

mobile web design

Mobile Web Design is a book by Cameron Moll. His site has an atypical layout that works really well - focussing on a large central graphic with a retro background. The colour palette and fonts used also work beautifully.

Grapevine

grapevine

I love the simplicity of this Grapevine homepage. The large, chunky font and no nonsense language direct the user down definite paths and the ‘1-2-3′ process on the landing page illustrates their proposition very clearly.

Delete

delete

Delete is a full service digital agency who have recently given their website a makeover. Gone is the in-page scrolling, fussy background and extensive use of Flash of their old site (click the v.2 button in their site footer). The new Delete site is cleaner, accessible and far easier to navigate. It lets their work [...]

Champion Sound

champion sound

Champion Sound promote their tech services to artists in the music industry. They do this successfully by using minimal technical jargon, grungy illustrations and retro photography. These combine to create a site that should certainly appeal to their target audience. I think their ‘Features’ page rocks hardest… man.

Unblab

unblab

Unblab is an application that manages your email inbox - making life easier for busy people. Like the application, the website is also very simple, to the point and uses crisp illustrations with a good amount of white (black) space. Options on the homepage are limited, which cleverly pushes the user to either sign-up or [...]

Transmission Apps

transmission apps

Like so many web app companies, Transmissions’ website for their ‘Logbook’ application is heavily influenced by Apple’s design. However, their site is black and shinier. I particularly like the use of icons and the chunky ‘subscribe’ element at the bottom of the homepage.

June Cloud’s website showcases their talents in web design and development (and the lovely illustrations of Holly Tickner). I love the character illustrations (roll over them!), tight headings and colour schema. Look ma! No boring footer!

Cream Scoop

cream scoop

Cream Scoop’s website is a simple 5-page XHTML/CSS site that demonstrates their design and development talents beautifully. The colour scheme is great and the site also showcases some wonderful illustrations from Simon Oxley. I like robots too.

Carsonified

carsonified

Carsonified build web apps and produce beautiful websites to support them. I like their hand-drawn design elements, friendly copy and all-round ‘awesomeness’. I diggin’ on their retro logo and the fact they work a 4-day week too.
